New numbering ranges were announced for Micronesia. There is no change to the 7-digit subscriber number format. New number ranges have been added to existing number ranges around late 2002.

The existing number ranges which remain in effect:

Pohnpei      320 xxxx
Chuuk        330 xxxx
Yap          350 xxxx
Kosrae       370 xxxx
The following new number ranges (2002) include fixed and mobile services. Not all of these ranges were implemented as of November 2002, but were expected to commence service:

Pohnpei and outer island  92x xxxx
Chuuk and outer island    93x xxxx
Chuuk and outer island    94x xxxx
Yap and outer island      95x xxxx
Yap and outer island      96x xxxx
Kosrae                    97x xxxx  (mobile only)

Other Information

Micronesia numbers were previously treated as 3-digit area code followed by 4-digit subscriber numbers (same digits as current plan). See an article by Mark Cuccia for Telecom Digest in August 1997, with numbering details of Pacific territories including Micronesia. Carrier is FSM Telecom Corp..
