Numbering range information

25 March 2002 - national renumbering

Fiji has a 7-digit national number format as of 25 March 2002. A digit was prepended to existing 6-digit numbers according to numbering range and type of service on a flash-cut basis i.e. callers using 6-digit numbers after the change date receive a recorded message rather than the intended party.

International prefix changed from 05 to 00.

Emergency short code changed from 000 to 911. That plus the 7-digit national numbering suggests some compatibility with North American Numbering Plan.

Previously existing 6-digit numbers were converted by prepending a digit according to the following table:

Old      New       Comments
======   =======   ========
2xxxxx   32xxxxx   if fixed/geographic
2xxxxx   92xxxxx   if mobile
3xxxxx   33xxxxx   fixed/geographic
4xxxxx   34xxxxx   fixed/geographic
5xxxxx   65xxxxx   fixed/geographic
6xxxxx   66xxxxx   fixed/geographic
7xxxxx   67xxxxx   fixed/geographic
8xxxxx   88xxxxx   fixed/geographic
9xxxxx   99xxxxx   mobile
