5 April 1999 - new country code +423 for Liechtenstein

The Principality of Liechtenstein has been served via Switzerland's telephone system. As of 5 April 1999, country code 423 is in effect for Liechtenstein, leaving the Switzerland numbering plan (previously +41 75 then Liechtenstein subscriber number).

References to +423 and the installation of international switching capability can be found in the FirstLink telecom documents: FirstLink - business.htm and FirstLink - actual.htm.

Also see More +423 information from www.ak.li.

An overview of the Liechtenstein numbering plan is also available, written in the principality's German dialect.

ITU also announced the introduction of +423 in Operational Bulletin #660 (only the table of contents of the bulletin is likely to be openly accessible via its website).

Another reference to +423 in service is in this KDDI bulletin of 25 December 1998. (additional info courtesy Markus Laesser, Liechtenstein Office for Communications)
