Mooney's Mini-Flags
|sx| Sint Maarten +1 (721)

Number Format

Area Code: 3 digits
Subscriber Number: 7 digits
Trunk Prefix: 1, 0
International Prefix: 011
All calls within Sint Maarten will be dialled with only their 7-digit subscriber number - no prefix or area code are used.

30 September 2011 - +1 721 replaces +599

Sint Maarten switches from the former Netherlands Antilles code +599 to the North American Numbering Plan area code +1 721 starting 30 September 2011 in permissive mode, and becoming mandatory 30 September 2012 (replacing the previously planned mandatory date of 31 March 2012). After +1 721 becomes mandatory, recorded announcements for the change will be provided until 31 March 2013.

Existing 7-digit subscriber numbers will be retained and only those 7 digits will be required for calling within Sint Maarten.

Calls outside Sint Maarten to other points in NANP (+1) will be dialled as 1+ (conventional toll) or 0+ (operator-assisted) area code then subscriber number. Calls to other country codes, including islands of the now-defunct Netherlands Antilles require the international dialling prefix e.g. 011 + 599 + area code/number for Bonaire, Curacao, Saba, St Eustatius; 011 + 590 + area/number for St Martin (French territory).
